Day 3: Foxton

After getting underway in our shiny new Dodge Journey, we decided to head up to the North Fork of the South Platte River, specifically the Foxton section. This stretch is an easy class III-IV section that features a nice stretch of easy boulder garden. We first locked the boats in the trees at the put-in and then drove the 4 mile shuttle to the bottom. After a quick 4 mile bike ride to the top, we were ready to put on. Here's the view from the put-in.

About half way through the run is the largest rapid, a series of ledges with small holes to punch. Here's Lydia disappearing in to the top hole.A little ways down from that was this rapid that had a cool large boulder to go around. Here's Lydia passing by...

Nice run, easy bike shuttle... The flow was about 600 cfs, which I would call a low medium. Not too bad for an afternoon after being stuck in Denver until after noon...

After checking a few other runs out in the South Platte area, we decided we'd like to head north to the Cache La Poudre River and Rocky Mountain national park. After a quick dinner in Denver, we were headed north. Stay tuned for the next episode...
